During WWII, Cartier-Bresson was captured and held in a German prisoner of war camp. Presumed dead, MoMA began preparing a memorial exhibition. When Cartier-Bresson emerged, alive, he joined the efforts to assemble this retrospective. He selected and personally printed 251 prints of his best work, which have been reassembled for this occasion. The exhibition, organized by the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, will have its sole American venue at ICP.
