Each preliminary round of the "Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike Contest will begin at 6:30PM, and finals 6:30pm in Sloppy Joe's Bar (201 Duval Street) on three consecutive evenings, July 22-24, 2010. Look-Alikes must compete in one of the preliminary rounds in order to be eligible for the finals on Saturday.

Pre-register by mail is recommended, as space is limited to 75 contestants a night. . .

Cancellations: Contestants who have pre-registered, and do not participate in contest, entry fee and t-shirt will not be returned.
The Papa Look-Alike Contest

Sloppy Joe's Bar in Key West will host its 30th Annual Hemingway Look-Alike contest July 22-24, 2010. The contest is one of many events in Key West to celebrate the birthday of Ernest Hemingway and honor his work as author and sportsman.

The competition starts with the first preliminary round on Thursday, July 22nd, second preliminary round on Friday, July 23rd, and finals on Saturday, July 24th.

From each preliminary round finalists are chosen. Last year's competition had 146 Look-Alikes taking the stage with 17 contestants from Thursday night preliminary and 13 from Friday night preliminary going on to the final round.

Look-Alikes are everywhere, it's a load of fun! Come early, get a good seat and watch the competition.

After the finals, the party spills over into the streets, where the Street Fair on Duval continues with food, drinks, entertainment and fun for everyone!

The infamous Ernest Hemingway Look-Alike Society invites you to join the Society. They will be at Sloppy Joe's to sign-up new members.

Saturday, July 24th at Noon get your photo taken with Papa.

At 1:00pm — Of the "running," Hemingway once remarked, "Pamplona is no place to bring your wife." Not the case here. There are no young Spaniards, just Papa's making the mock run in the streets.

24th Annual Arm Wrestling Contest
Sunday, July 25th at Noon. The Arm Wrestling Championship is the finale to the event. Contestants will line up to fill one of the seven weight categories. Same day registration begins at 11am.

Women's competition will have two weight divisions: up to 129lbs; and over 130 lbs. Men's competition will have five weight divisions: up to 149 lbs: 150 lbs. to 169lbs.; 170 lbs. to 189 lbs.; 190 lbs. to 215 lbs.; and 216 lbs. and up. Men will be required to weigh in.
$5 Entry Fee. Prizes awarded.
