Helene Cooper grew up in an elite class of Liberia that held power of the majority. Her family led a privileged lifestyle until a violent coup overthrew the Congo elite, forcing her family to flee their beloved homeland. In America Helene became a typical teenager, putting the thought of her war-torn country aside, and eventually became a successful reporter. Traveling the world as a reporter, Helene realizes she can no longer ignore her real home.
