Helen Sung, Pianist February 6, 2009

Sung studied under legendary jazz bassist Ron Carter when she was accepted to the inaugural class of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. As artistic director, Carter helped Sung transition from her classical training and develop a jazz ear and sensibility. This is a rare opportunity to hear Carter in an all-acoustic setting and to watch two musicians who have a teacher/student relationship continue to evolve musically through that relationship.
