In a special one night only performance at the magnificent Mission Santa Clara de Asis, The Choral Project will offer a concert of light in sound, warmth in music, and healing in song. The concert will feature John Rutter’s beautiful and consoling Requiem, performed with an orchestra comprised of the South Bay’s finest instrumentalists. Other works include music by Alberto Ginastera, Arvo Pärt, René Clausen and Paul Basler.
In its ongoing quest to enhance the musical education of students in the greater Bay Area, The Choral Project will also award scholarships to six deserving high school students that participated in this year’s Choral Mentorship Program. This program offers students a unique opportunity to rehearse and perform quality literature with The Choral Project. This year’s recipients are high school seniors Sammi Cardenas and Sweta Ghosh, and junior Michael Lampron-York from Pinewood High School (Kristina Overcashier, Music Director); high school senior Samantha Garcia and junior Hilary Powers from Lincoln High School (Josh Palkki, Music Director); and sophomore Amelia Mulford from Mt. View High School (Jill Denny, Music Director).
A portion of the night’s proceeds will go to the San José Go Green Schools Program, which connects K-12 schools in San José with free recycling supplies and other green resources, encouraging them to take up the “Go Green” initiative.
Tickets: $25 general admission; $18 student/senior. Children under 10 are free.
