This event is fun for the whole family – from the kids to the family dog – Heartland Animal Shelter’s Fourth Annual Walk of Love. The 2K walk and 9K for K9s Fun Run is set for Saturday, July 31st at 9:30 at the Blue Star Memorial Forest Preserve in Glenview. Participate in the walk (or run) – then stick around afterwards for breakfast and family- and dog-friendly activities that include fun photos, raffles, face painting, a pet psychic and more.
Register on-line at www.heartlandanimalshelter.net and create your own personal Walk of Love Web page at www.firstgiving.com/has to help raise more funds for the animals. Advance registration is $20 for adults, $10 for children 3-12 years old (children 3 and under are free), and families of up to six members would be $50. The day of the event, registration increases to $25 for adults, $12 for children, and $55 for families. Along with registering online, you may also register by mail by sending a check to Heartland Animal Shelter, 2975 Milwaukee Avenue, Northbrook, IL 60062 in care of the Walk of Love.
Proceeds benefit Heartland Animal Shelter, a no-kill, non-profit dedicated to finding homeless animals their forever homes while educating the public on spaying and neutering their pets in order to decrease pet over population. Last year, around 1,100 dogs and cats were adopted from Heartland.
