An autobiographical look at the breakup of Nora Ephron’s marriage to Carl “All the President’s Men” Bernstein, based on the best-selling novel of the same name. Rachel (Meryl Streep) is a food writer at a New York magazine who meets Washington columnist Mark (Jack Nicholson) at a wedding and ends up marrying him despite her reservations about marriage and his reputation as a ladies man. They buy a house, have a daughter and Rachel thinks they are living happily ever after. All goes well initially, despite the fact that they endure months of renovation on their home by incompetent builders. Then Rachel discovers that Mark has been having an affair with one of their circle. The cast of the 1986 comedy/drama also includes Stockard Channing, Jeff Daniels and Maureen Stapleton. It is rated R. Discussion time will follow the movie. Free and open to the public.
