Heart Change: A Spiritual Disciplines Workshop for Lent
Monday, March 2
7-9 p.m.
Christ Church Fellowship Hall
Dessert, Coffee & Tea
Featured Speaker: Fr. Ron McCrary, Executive Director for AIM Church Planting, with introduction by Fr. David Roseberry, Rector
Many Christians never get beyond the “sin management” stage in their life with Christ. That is, they accept the gift of forgiveness and eternal salvation, but they haven’t learned to embark on the journey to the progressive “heart transplant” that transforms their inner character into the likeness of Christ.
Fr. Ron McCrary is a longtime student of the biblical “spiritual disciplines” that are the catalyst for that transformation: feasting on scripture, solitude & silence, fasting & frugality, secrecy & sacrifice, study & prayer, service & submission, worship & celebration, and fellowship & confession. Fr. Ron knows from personal experience, and that of others, that trying harder doesn’t produce the life of joy and strength that Jesus offers. Instead life transformation happens through training wisely through the use of the biblical spiritual disciplines and the gift of God’s grace. He will share his trials and errors with you at an evening workshop on March 2 so that you can begin to achieve the kind of Christian joy that we often hear about and that sustains us even in the tough times.
This is a perfect primer for those who are serious about using Lent to draw closer to Christ. Come have dessert and fellowship at 7 p.m. before the program starts at 7:30 p.m. Childcare is available with RSVP to Kathy King.
