Screeching bats, singing apes, and whistling birds—the jungle is home to a chorus of animal sounds. What are these animals saying to each other and how do scientists capture and decode their exotic languages? Zarin Machanda, a researcher in Human Evolutionary Biology at Harvard, will discuss these other questions and play field recordings from remote jungles around the world. This event is part of a series of weekend afternoon programs for middle-school children and their families presented at the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Renowned authors, Harvard faculty, and other scientists offer educational and entertaining presentations on their latest work. Free with museum admission.
