Bob DeLoss begins his
tour of the upper Amazon in the city of Lima, Peru. From there he goes to
Iquitos, where the river broadens to 2½ miles in width. Bob shows us the
culture of different Indian tribes—the Yagua and the Jivaro (who specialize
in shrunken heads!). He features the reptiles, amphibians, animals, birds,
and insects native to the region. And he takes us to such sites as the
Columbian city of Leticia, the picturesque and fascinating city of Cuzco,
and the ruins at Machu Pichu. The film offers an expansive and in-depth
view of this fascinating area of the Western Hemisphere.
