A Thousand and One Nights is a famous collection of stories. It is made up of hundreds of tales and fables, some of them short and others very long. The stories are some of the world's great treasures. They have existed for thousands of years, consisting of tales told in Persia, Arabia, India and Asia. The stories have inspired writers the world over with the ancient power of story. This larger story is about a king who marries a maiden every night, only to kill her the next morning. He kills one maiden after another, and no one is able to stop him. Finally the vizier's daughter, whose name is Scheherezade, thinks of clever plan to end the killilng.
