The Haymarket Opera Company presents the Chicago premiere of Handel's comic cantata from 1707. Two shepherds are in love with a fickle shepherdess who tries in vain to outsmart them. Scored for three high voices and full orchestra, including the seldom-heard archlute, this pastoral cantata contains some of Handel's finest arias and duets which he later recycled in such "hits" as Agrippina, Rinaldo, and Acis and Galatea.
