HAuNTcon is Like Halloween in April!
Halloween comes early to Houston, Texas, when the Haunted Attraction National Tradeshow and Convention (or HAuNTconfor short) comes to the Houston Crown Plaza Hotel April 24-28, 2008! Open to the general public, HAuNTcon brings together people who love Haunted Houses, and the exposition moves to a new city each year so attendees can tour different attractions across the country. Texas is a huge Haunted Attraction state, and this year’s HAuNTcon promises to be the largest Haunted convention to date!
Sponsored by Freek Energy Drink, Wristband Resource and Haunted Attraction Magazine, HAuNTcon offers a 100 booth tradeshow floor showing the latest and greatest of new Haunted products, backstage tours of local Houston Haunted Attractions, over 50 hours of Haunted Education and How-to Workshops, and networking opportunities like the incredible Haunted Attraction Costume Ball.
HAuNTcon 2008 opens with a pre show Haunted Road Trip to Louisiana April 22-24 for tours of The 13th Gate (One of the highest detailed Haunts you will ever see). The House of Shock (THE most radical Haunt you will ever see), The Mortuary (built in a haunted funeral parlor, in the middle of a cemetery), Chamber of Horrors (a creative haunt in its third year) and Chinchuba’s Haunted House (the longest continually running Haunted Attraction In New Orleans).
Thursday night attendees will be at Nightmare on the Bayou for dinner, social and a lights off tour of this large haunted attraction in North Houston, (Great Scares and 3D section). The Friday night tour is of Phobia 290, (a hard core animated haunt!) Three of the five attractions at this multi-element event will be full actor tours and one will be available for lights on tours.
At the hose hotel, over 100 booths fill the Tradeshow floor, April 25-27, with exhibitors selling the latest in fright services and equipment for the professional Haunted House owner and the Halloween enthusiast alike. Everything a Haunter needs from horror makeup and highly detailed masks to static props and large animatronic creatures will be for sale, many at wholesale prices.
Over 50 hours of Haunt seminars, make-up classes, product demos and make-n-take workshops, makes HAuNTcon a not to be missed conference!
Saturday night April 26, is the massive Haunted Attraction Costume Ball. Show off your most creative costume at this rocking party and celebrate the joy of getting into character for fun rather than work. The ticket price includes music, dancing and cash bar.
The Hearse and Parade Car Show is Sunday April 27 is expected to fill the hotel parking lot with creepy tricked out vehicles, the largest collection of funeral cars ever exhibited in Texas. Followed by the Haunted Garage Sale, a spooky flea market and swap meet where attendees get into the selling frenzy by buying a table and bringing their own scary stuff to sell.
On Monday April 28, HAuNTcon wraps up the exciting weekend with full day hands on specialty workshops, by Bad Boys Scenic Design, Smooth-on, Wolfe Brothers and Leonard Pickel.
