It's Harvest Festival Time Again!
Discover the taste of BC's autumn abundance at the Vancouver Farmers Market's Harvest Festivals on September 26th, 30th, and then on October 3rd and 4th. We'll be holding our annual apple pie contest, a demo with the Flour Peddler as well as kids crafts and face painting. Free recipes and varieties of squash, apples and pears will be on display!
Shoppers visiting any of our Markets during Harvest Festival will be able to learn about the wide selection of apples, pears and squash that are grown in BC. An assortment will be on display with cards offering a description as well as historical tidbits and eating suggestions. There will also be a sampling of different types of apples!
Kids and parents alike will especially love our Trout Lake Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 26th. Kids can make their own "hand turkey" at the arts and crafts table or visit the face painter!
"Harvest time is all about comfort food, and that's what we've decided to focus on at our Harvest Festival this year," says Elicia Harris, Vancouver Farmers Market Special Events Coordinator, "this is an opportunity to learn about where all that comfortable fall food comes from and what you can do with it."
As always, Market goers can stock up on all manner of vegetables, fruits, BC cheeses, grass-fed meats, wild seafood, mushrooms, plants, preserves, baked goods, sauces, honey, and crafts. All items are producer-direct and grown, raised, gathered or made in BC. And this year, the Vancouver Farmers Markets will be held until the end of October.
