A new monthly book-discussion group
at Harvard Book Store
First up: John Banville's
Booker Prize–winning novel The Sea
Please join us for the first meeting of the Harvard Square Book Circle, a monthly book-discussion group. For our first meeting, we will be discussing John Banville's Booker Prize–winning novel The Sea. The discussion is open to the public, and no previous registration is necessary.
Max Morden, a middle-aged Irishman, has gone back to the seaside town where he spent his summer holidays as a child to cope with the recent loss of his wife. It is also a return to the place where he met the Graces, the well-heeled family with whom he experienced the strange suddenness of both love and death for the first time. What Max comes to understand about the past, and about its indelible effects on him, is at the center of this elegiac, gorgeously written novel — among the finest we have had from this masterful writer.
Come into the store during the month of June and save 20% on your copy of The Sea. We look forward to seeing you at the Harvard Square Book Circle.
