The festivities begin on Thursday, July 14th when Coventry Road is closed to traffic between 6-9 p.m. for the Coventry Street Fair. Mac?s Backs will feature a fantasy art installation by Isaac Coblentz (www.copperweaver.com). Creative craft activities for the kids include origami, paper sculpture and wand-making. Kids (and adults!) can also attend potions and herbology class. We will have tarot readings and Harry Potter trivia games. The Society for Creative Anachronism will be performing in front of the Coventry Library during the street fair.
On Friday, July 15th, the Coventry Library will have a Potter Party from 3-4 p.m. featuring magic, trivia and a jester. On Friday night Mac?s Backs will repeat the kid?s craft activities, trivia games and tarot readings starting at 10 p.m and copies of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be on sale at midnight. The other books in the popular series will also be available, as well as the Harry & the Potters cds featuring songs based on the books. Mac?s will also have a continuous showing of a dvd of J. K. Rowling reading from the books.
On Saturday, July 16th storyteller John McMahon will read from the first few chapters of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at 11:00 a.m.
Mac?s will sell $1.00 raffle tickets for the 5 foot ?Who Is The Half-Blood Prince? promotional cardboard cut-out promoting the book as well as a set of the Harry & the Potter cds. The proceeds will be divided between the Heights Arts Collaborative and Reaching Heights, two Heights area non-profits that support the arts and the schools.
