Who are the Jews? A race? A people? For over a century, both Jews and non-Jews have tried to pinpoint a collective Jewish identity, first through physical anthropology and more recently through population genetics. In Legacy, medical geneticist Harry Ostrer explores not only the history of these efforts, but also the insights that genetics has provided about the origins of contemporary Jewish people. Nadine Epstein, editor and publisher of Moment Magazine, will sit down with Ostrer to discuss population genetics and the role of genetic legacy in determining our individual and group identities.
