Known for straight-ahead jazz and stride piano as well as more contemporary New Orleans music, multi-talented artist Harry Connick Jr. will perform March 11th at the Beijing Exhibition Theater.

HarryConnick, Jr.'s love of music and performing dates back to his childhoodin New Orleans, where he studied piano with such luminaries as JamesBooker and Ellis Marsalis at the age of three. He first performedpublicly at age five, appeared on his first jazz recording at age tenwith a local jazz band, and released his self-titled major label debutfor Columbia Records at 19, only a year after his high schoolgraduation and his move to New York City.Connick achieved widespread success as a musician when director RobReiner asked him to contribute the score to his 1989 smash When HarryMet Sally, leading to Connick's first big-band recording and firstmulti-platinum album.
