From LA.com:
The burlesque movement takes another step backward?to the '20s?with this show that intends to (artistically) claw past the Pussycat Dolls. Meow!
Voted "best new burlesque" in 2004 by the Los Angeles Times, "Harlottique" returns for a new three-night engagement at Avalon, which is dubbed Big Al's Speakeasy during the show. The club fills with soulful jazz tunes by the Harlottique Players, led by bassist Del Atkins. (He's on break from touring with artists including Mary J. Blige, Jessica Simpson and Norah Jones.) In addition to all that singin' and strippin' onstage, the experience includes moonshine in jam jars and food from next-door neighbor Honey?redubbed with monikers like "scintillating sliders" and "racy rock 'n fried chicken" served with "three-way condiments." This run stars blonde vixen Kimberly Caldwell of "American Idol" fame, the choreographers have won awards on Broadway, the dancers are professionally trained, and the plot?well, there is one. Take that, Carmen Electra.
