When Democrat George W. P. Hunt was elected as Arizona's Governor in 1912, he was 53 years young and ready to go the distance for his adopted state.
A key figure in the Arizona Constitutional Convention, Hunt was elected as Governor for seven two year terms (14 years total), the most elected governor in Arizona Political History.
On Nov. 1st, for Governor Hunt's 153rd birthday during Arizona's Centennial year, the Arizona Capitol Museum invites Arizona residents and visitors to a free celebration!
Capitol Museum Volunteer and resident Hunt expert Don Shields (pictured right) will portray Governor Hunt.
Using the Governor's personal papers as well as other primary sources, Shields will present Governor Hunt's political philosophy within the context of the young state and draw conclusions about Hunt's attitudes about Arizona Politics 100 years later.
