Flamboyant virtuoso, pop star, generous friend, ladys man, destroyer of pianos and Catholic acolyte Franz Liszt was all of these and more. On the day of his 200th birthday, we examine the long and varied career of this great composer, whose technically brilliant and deeply emotional music has had a lasting influence on other composers and performers.
