The sound of Montreal-based indie rock duo Handsome Furs is marked by electronic beats, courtesy of Alexei Perry, and jagged and dissonant guitars from Dan Boeckner. The goal for this band was to be as sparse and repetitive as possible with the help of little more than vocals, guitars, and a new drum machine. Since Handsome Furs beginning in 2005, the duo has opened for the likes of Paavoharju, Islaja, David Cross, and Modest Mouse. They recently released their debut record, Plague Park.
