Hands on History: Gold Fever! Gold Fever gripped Sacramento in 1849. Sutter's Fort was overrun with miners, and the state changed forever. This event is a day where the turmoil of this massive change plays out at the Fort. Miners will do anything in their quest for gold. Sutter and his men will plead with miners to stay off of his land, but the miners are crazy with dreams of riches. Visitors will be able to pan for gold, participate in mock debates and hear speeches, bowl in our pioneer bowling alley, listen to miner's stories of big nuggets, and participate in the gold rush economy, with high prices and limited supplies, They may end up with gold fever, and must decide for themselves whether to help Sutter build his empire and eventually become wealthy, or go off to strike it rich at the mines.
