Dutch drummer Han Bennink is one of the most and well-noted improvisers in the world. Although best known for his free playing, he has performed with "in the tradition" greats like Ben Webster, Sonny Rollins, Wes Montgomery, Johnny Griffin, Eric Dolphy and Dexter Gordon. In 1967 he founded The Instant Composers Pool (ICP) with fellow Dutch pioneers, pianist Misha Mengelberg and saxophonist Willem Breuker.
He has subsequently performed with a wide range of American and European musicians, including Peter Brotzmann, Derek Bailey, Steve Lacy, Roswell Rudd, Fred von Hove, Dave Douglas and may more.
