ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage presents Hamlet. Winner of four Academy Awards, including Best Actor and Best Picture, Sir Laurence Olivier adapted, directed and starred in this black-and-white Hamlet. Featuring beautiful scenery shot on location in Elsinore, this shortened version of Shakespeare’s classic follows the prince of Denmark as he avenges his father’s murder by killing his Uncle Claudius, now the king. Through faked madness and true sorrow, Olivier’s remarkable performance unveils the many layers of Hamlet’s burdened mind.
