This year, the Hamburg International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival joins the global network of gay and lesbian film festivals that each nominate a short film to compete for the Iris Prize, which, at £25,000, is the world’s largest gay and lesbian short film prize.
American director Dee Rees was named the winner of the inaugural Iris Prize competition in Cardiff, Wales (UK) in October 2007. Her film PARIAH was chosen by the International Jury as the best entry of the 30 short-listed films in the competition. The prize, generously sponsored by the UK post-production sector, allows the winner to make their next short film in the UK.
The LSF Hamburg is proud and excited to have the opportunity to nominate a film for this year's festival, which will take place in Cardiff from the 2nd to the 4th of October 2008.
