Dick Clark once made teenage dance shows the rage in America on after-school television. Based on the 1988 John Waters film of the same name, 'Hairspray' the musical, is set in 1962 Baltimore, where plump Tracy Turnblad is selected to appear on the local dance show. She becomes a daily favorite and, recognizing the injustices of color barriers, begins a mission to integrate the show.
