PineCone is proud to partner with Artsplosure to ring in 2012 as part of the annual First Night Raleigh celebration, and thrilled to present a Django Reinhardt-inspired band called Gypsy. The 2011 First Night Raleigh is going to have a French theme woven throughout the numerous programs and activities this year, and legendary French gypsy guitar genius Django Reinhardt's pioneering style of jazz guitar (sometimes called 'hot' jazz guitar) has become a living musical tradition within French gypsy culture. With violinist Stéphane Grappelli, Reinhardt co-founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France. Reinhardt's most popular compositions have become jazz standards, including "Minor Swing", "Daphne", "Belleville", "Djangology", and many others. Shows at 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m.
$9 in advance, children under 5 free; Day-of: $12 adults; $10 children ages 6-12
