Gutbucket Chamber Orchestra is a twelve-year-old Brooklyn-based quartet that performs composer-driven, art-rock-tainted chamber jazz. The Gutbucket Chamber Orchestra premiered in early 2009, when Gutbucket brought together an ensemble of multi-instrumentalists to realize the orchestrations on its 2009 release A Modest Proposal. Gutbucket’s West Coast debut marks the follow-up to that performance, and the celebration of their most recent recording Flock. Gutbucket’s REDCAT show will feature an expanded ensemble that will include select CalArts players—on woodwinds, vibes, keyboards, organ, cello, percussion, electronics, prepared instruments, noise toys, multiple basses and electric guitars—to achieve a huge, unconventional yet harmonious sound.
