'GUMBO' is DUMBO's first gay party. 'GUMBO' (Gay. DUMBO. Party.) is a party for the LGBT community that started in August 2009 by Ben Harvey and Casey Fitzpatrick. It takes place each first and third Friday of the month at Galapagos Art Space. The Time Out New York "Critics' pick" for gay nightlife welcomes guys and gals to what OUT.com calls "one of the hottest new parties in NYC." The party has rotating features including free haircuts, 42Below Vodka open bar (10-11pm), dirty sugar photography sociaLIGHT live photos, Suspended Cirque aerialists, stage shows, and door giveaways. GUMBO was nominated for "Best Gay Night" at Paper Magazine's 2010 Annual Nightlife Awards.
