Renowned classical guitarist Peter Fletcher will appear at the Pacifica Library on Thursday, April 26 at 7:30 pm, the Half Moon Bay Library on Friday, April 27 at 7:00 pm and the Belmont Library on Sunday, April 29th at 2:00 pm.
In demand as a performer at cultural venues throughout the country, Fletcher recently appeared at Carnegie Hall. Repertoire will include Variations on a Theme of Mozart, a dazzling work for classical guitar by the 19th Century Spanish guitarist and composer Fernando Sor.
The concert will feature selections from Fletcher’s newest Centaur Records release, “Peter Fletcher Plays Erik Satie.” Steven Rings of the American Record Guide has written, “Fletcher’s performances are taut and incisive, counteracting the common tendency to play Satie’s music like sleepy New Age.”
The concert will culminate with an intensely powerful work for classical guitar by the Italian guitarist and composer Carlo Domeniconi entitled “Koyunbaba,” also recorded by Fletcher. CDs may be purchased following the concert.
