It's a time of frenzied activity for many resident birds. Park Ornithologist Simon Thompson will point out several of our local woodpeckers including Downy, Hairy and Pileated. Some will already be nesting and may be feeding their young. The songs of Yellow-throated and Red-eyed Vireos are heard throughout the woods and we may be lucky enough to find one of their very camouflaged hanging nests along the trails.
