The Indigo Girls have partnered with the Richmond SPCA to conduct a pet food drive for the local non-profit’s Pet Pantry during the folk duo’s upcoming concert at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on June 11.
The duo’s goal to help families in need feed their pets was a natural match for the Pet Pantry, which the Richmond SPCA established to provide temporary pet food assistance. The program is an extension of the local humane organization’s Project Safety Net, which provides alternatives to pet relinquishment.
On each stop of their spring and summer tour, the Indigo Girls have conducted food drives to benefit the local community. The project is a partnership with Rock for A Remedy a non-profit organization that partners with local food relief organizations and national touring artists to both gather food and monetary donations as well as encourage youth and adults to better their communities through charitable efforts.
