Greg Mortenson Reads from Three Cups of Tea October 13, 2006

Author Greg Mortenson reads from his book, Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Fight Terrorism and Build Nations ... One School at a Time at the Belmont Library on Friday, October 13 at 7:00 pm. This inspiring, adventure-filled book begins after the author failed an attempt to climb K2. Devastated in body and spirit, Mortenson was nursed back to health by impoverished yet kindly Pakistani villagers. In return, he promised to return one day and build them a school. From that rash, earnest promise grew one of the most incredible humanitarian campaigns of our time—Greg Mortenson’s one-man mission to counteract extremism by building schools, especially for girls, throughout the breeding ground of the Taliban.
A book signing will follow the author’s presentation. Refreshments will be served. This program is part of “One Book, One Community: San Mateo County Reads The Kite Runner” and is free and open to all.
