Greg Koons and the Misbegotten will release their first nationally promoted and distributed album, "Welcome to the Nowhere Motel", in the fall of 2008 on Kealon records. The record is being co-produced by Matt Keating and Adam Lasus (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, PJ Harvey, Army/Navy.) and was recorded at Fireproof Studios in Los Angeles. Tracking has been completed and mixing/mastering is scheduled for June of 2008. Welcome to the Nowhere Motel epitomizes a labor of love and showcases Koons poignant and melodic songwriting. In collaboration with a host of critically acclaimed musicians such as Jason Mercer on bass (Ani DiFranco, Ron Sexsmith), Jordan Richardson on drums (Oliver Future, Ben Harper), and Kirk Swan on guitar (John Wesley Harding), the result is an organic, folk album with pop sensibilities boasting beautifully written melodies, and providing an unforgettable look into the lives of the broken and the misbegotten. Welcome to the Nowhere Motel, clearly influenced by such consummate artists from Steve Earle to Shane MacGowan, begins with the striking and heartfelt song, Nowhere to Them, Somewhere to Me and concludes with the punk influenced Gentleman Prefer Blondes (But Drunks Likem, Too) featuring the tremendous bass playing of Jason Mercer. The song, Los Angeles Looks Prettier On TV, is a triumphant and autobiographical song about disillusionment and hardship in the city of angels; A Picture of My Pa before he Died in Vietnam, an intense and symphonious anthem, features the emotional drumming of Jordan Richardson. " Kealon Records President, Brian Long, had this to say, "Greg has been on my radar screen for years. He is easily one of the best songwriters that I have ever come across. I have finally had a chance to record him with the right producers and musicians. This record is powerful and I am excited and proud to release it for all to enjoy." Koons adds, "I was determined to write an album that was a reflection of the resilience that I saw in many people that I have met along the way in life, especially the kind of people that wear their elegance on the inside." myspace. com/gregkoons
