21 Grand Gallery presents:

Fri, Oct 7, 7:00pm-10:00pm, Oakland
MORE INFO: http://lexawalsh.com
This is an opening exhibition of artist Lexa Walsh's show entitled "Greetings from Oakland- The Immortalization Project".
Walsh has invited the public to participate by bringing an object that is kept for nostalgic reasons only. The participants and their objects have been photographed and filmed during interviews about the objects' histories. Walsh has been meeting participants on the street in various locations in Downtown Oakland.
A selection of photographic images turned into postcards have been made throughout the process- postcards of Oakland- with the images of the objects and text summaries of the stories. These postcards will be available to the public as the project continues.
Photographic images of the objects and the participants, video footage and the postcards will make up an opening presentation at 21Grand gallery on Friday, October 7 2005. A closing reception on Thursday, October 27 will mark the end of the project, as additions will have been made to the exhibition.
The participants and public are encouraged to bear witness to the work they will have created together. Also shown at the gallery will be examples of previous Immortalization Projects (Belgrade, Los Angeles). These images and stories will also appear on The Immortalization Project website.
The Immortalization Project will be realised in Taipei in November 2005.
