Greer Family Fest May 1, 2009

With a rich history of providing family fun for all ages, the annual Village Hospital Greer Family Fest promises to be better than ever this year, the 25th anniversary of the event. Greer is growing, and Greer Family Fest planners have an expanded vision for a spectacular event that reflects the growth Greer is achieving. This year’s event will feature the best of the old and add exciting new activities with the goal of being the Upstate’s favorite family festival. This two-day event features live music on the Garfield Main Stage and the BMW Manufacturing Co. Community Stage, Children’s Parade and Anne Helton Creation Station presented by Mitsubishi, KidsZone, Restaurant row, and arts and crafts vendors.

New features for the 2009 Village Hospital Greer Family Fest:
The festival will kick-off with a 25th Anniversary Celebration which will highlight the past 25 years of the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest at 6:00pm on Friday, May 1.

Friday Night Family Night: What better way to celebrate 25 years of this incredible festival than to have a special “Family Night” price for rides?! Friday, May 1 from 6:00-10:00pm the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest will sell “Pay one price – ride unlimited” bracelets for only $15.
Hollywild Animal Exhibit: Festival organizers are thrilled that Hollywild will be participating in this year’s festival! They plan to bring many exotic animals for a petting zoo, including llamas, donkeys, zebras, sheep, and more! There will also be opportunities for children to ride animals. Hollywild Animal Exhibit will be open on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00am - 10:00pm.

Suzanne Green Art Exhibit: Another new feature for this year’s event is the Suzanne Green Art Exhibit which will be at The Davenport on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00-6:00pm. The late Mrs. Greene was a local artist who had a flavor for capturing on canvas the essence of Greer in not only historic sites, but local individuals.

Youth Extreme Zone: Festival organizers wanted to offer some fun for the pre-teen and teenagers this year by featuring a new “Youth Extreme Zone” with rides such as a mechanical bull, rock wall, extreme obstacle course, bungee run and jousting ring. The Youth Extreme Zone will be open on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 - 10:00pm.

Regional 1 Village Hospital Helicopter landing: Early Saturday afternoon, families will have the opportunity to check out this helicopter up close and have the opportunity to get inside!

KidsZone Stage: This new stage, added especially for the 25th Anniversary event, will feature local dance shows, karate exhibitions, and more in the KidsZone area of the festival!
