Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration and on-site caterer Ocean Blue Catering will host its first Green Drinks event on Thursday, November 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on the main exhibit floor.
Green Drinks is an international network of after-work events, serving up drinks, food and opportunities for conversation, networking and learning with other “green”-minded individuals at venues in more than 300 cities around the world.
Sip beer or wine, sample hors d’ oeuvres prepared by Ocean Blue Catering and meet local individuals who are passionate about environmental and sustainability issues, such as green building and design, sustainable energy and organic gardening.
Kelly Matis, vice president of education and public conservation programs at Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration, will speak about the Aquarium’s ongoing conservation efforts, as well as Sustainable Mystic, an initiative spearheaded by 30 community leaders to wisely and actively protect Mystic’s natural and historic resources as it grows and prospers economically.
Attendees are welcome to bring their brochures, magazines, newsletters and other materials to share with one another. A donation of $10 is requested of guests; $5 for students. For more information, visit greendrinks.org or call Becky Giantonio, assistant director of media and public relations, at (860) 572-5955, ext. 338.
