What does “Green” really mean? Why be Green? How to be Green? These three main issues amongst others, will be addressed at the Green IT mini-conference to be held here, at Old Broadcasting House, on Monday 18th January from 10am to 4pm.

Leeds Metropolitan University's Innovation North academic, Professor Colin Pattinson will be speaking about his understanding and experience of Green Computing. Colin was instrumental in setting up the MSc Green Computing award, the first of its kind in the country.

The award enables students to investigate Green ICT technologies, assess the environmental impact of ICT and look at how companies can streamline their systems, increase sustainability and save energy costs. The almost-universal adoption of ICT means the industry has a significant carbon footprint and students studying on the Green Computing programme research and design real-life practical strategies which provide sustainable computing for the future.

The Green IT mini-conference, hosted by nti Leeds and Digital 20/20, will feature speakers from a range of backgrounds. For more information or to register your attendance, please contact Mel Kanarek, Digital 20/20 on melanie@sero.co.uk.
