On the first Saturday in May (May 3, 2008), the City of Lacey, WA (near Olympia) holds Electric Car Races and Alternative Fuel Fair at Huntamer Park. There is no charge to attend the fair and races, and it’s a good way to get a head start on your Green Car Journey. Stop by the Yellow Bear Journeys booth at the fair for information about the fair and races, information about local hybrid dealers, and information about the Green Car Journey and our other Eco Journeys. After the fair, you might want to stop by your local hybrid dealer to further investigate hybrid cars. (Note: The Electric Car Races and Alternative Fuel Fair are not part of this Green Car Journey.)
On Monday, May 5, the Green Car Journey travels from Olympia to Spokane where the Tango is made. The Tango is owned by George Clooney, Sergey Brin (Google co-founder), and others.
From Spokane, we head to Seattle to visit the Green Car Company and MC Electric Vehicles. At the Green Car Company, owner Greg Rock will teach "Transportation 101". The Green Car Company has Volvos and Mercedes that run on biodiesel. They also have ultra-efficient Smart Cars, and Zap Cars and Bikes. If we’re lucky, we’ll get to see a Myers electric car, which is freeway capable, as is the Tango. MC Electric Vehicles, sells various brands of neighborhood electric vehicles, including IT by Dynasty, ZENN, and EXV.
From Seattle, we’ll go to Vancouver to see some fuel cell demos. Then we’ll head back to Olympia.
