Why can't we all live and work in green buildings right now? Building using sustainable resources and natural building materials seems simple enough, however, this is not the norm in North America.

As winner of the 2006 People?s Choice Awards for Architecture for Toronto?s favourite new commercial building, the museum is pleased to partner with Architecture for Humanity Toronto
to present a compelling series of lectures exploring the development of sustainable communities. In this lecture, design expert Dr. David Moses will discuss some of the biggest challenges when considering sustainable alternatives to standard building practice, including the biggest challenges of convincing clients, building officials, builders and even other designers.

Bio:
David Moses is a structural engineer specializing in timber engineering. After joining
Equilibrium Consulting Inc. in Vancouver in 1999, he recently opened an office in Toronto for
Equilibrium. His work includes innovative commercial, residential and community-based
projects in Canada, the United States and parts of Asia. A growing number of his projects
involve green design, where timber is the material of choice. David received his PhD in
structural engineering from UBC in 2000 and has published research articles on timber design
and wood composites. David has contributed general interest articles to Wood le Bois and Wood
Design & Building magazines and sits on a number of CSA committees.
