The Great Sand Hills are a little known, Saskatchewan ecological treasure. One of the largest remaining areas of native prairie left in the province, this is home to many endangered and rare species and species unique to sand dune ecosystems. The Great Sand Hills have been identified as one of five Natural Areas of Canadian Significance in Saskatchewan. Photographer Branimir Gjetvaj will take us on a virtual tour of this prairie jewel, and discuss threats to its ecological integrity posed by expanding gas and oil development.
