CONDUCTOR - Matthias Bamert
Piano - Alessio Bax
- ROSSINI William Tell Overture
- GRIEG Piano Concerto in A minor
- TCHAIKOVSKY Symphony No.6, 'Pathétique'
Grieg’s immortal Piano Concerto in A minor provides the perfect start to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s season at Fairfield Halls, rich as it is in lyrical melodies and show-stopping virtuosity. Young Italian pianist Alessio Bax makes his début with the RPO to perform this mighty work. The Concerto is framed by two masterpieces of the classical repertoire, the wild gallop of Rossini’s William Tell Overture contrasting sharply with Tchaikovsky's heart-wrenching Sixth Symphony.
