A community interest in the local environment has led the Parks & People Foundation to extend the dates of the Great Gwynns Falls Trail Hunt into the beginning of fall, with a new end date of October 14. The extended date allows participants more time to discover Baltimore’s history just as the leaves begin to change. The Hunt is a joint project of the Parks & People Foundation and the Gwynns Falls Trail Council.
A historical “scavenger hunt” contest, the Great Gwynns Falls Trail Hunt helps participants uncover Baltimore’s past while enjoying the natural setting of the Gwynns Falls Trail. Using a map and provided questions, visitors can read interpretative historical panels along the entire Trail and participate in a hunt to win exciting prizes, including a new bike, day passes for a climbing wall, a trapeze lesson, and camping gear. Participants can acquire the map and questions for the Hunt by visiting www.gwynnsfallstrail.org.
The Great Gwynns Falls Trail Hunt is free of charge and anyone can participate. The contest runs throughout the summer with entries due by October 14 to Kate Mack at kate.mack@gwynnsfallstrail.org.
