From line to liquid, from the real to the abstract, this exhibition of paintings, drawings, and sculpture explores the myriad ways contemporary artists use graphite. The exhibition features 25 works drawn from the Portland Museum of Art's permanent collection and on loan from local artists. Family portraits by Brett Bigbee and Alex Katz, architectural views of Portland by Robert Solotaire and Rackstraw Downes, and minimalist renderings by Scott Davis and Kendra Ferguson present a wide range of subjects and approaches to this single, versatile medium.
