Grace Potter and the Nocturnals September 22, 2007

Hailing from Vermont, the band's roots rock, funky blues and soul-charged repertoire explodes with melodic crescendos, gentle lyricism and fiery youthful intensity. The Nocturnals' driving sound and Potter's exquisite, soaring voice have already earned comparisons to Norah Jones, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin and The Band. On its new self-titled EP, Suffrajett incorporates rock jams, heavy funk basslines and aggressive rhythms with leadsinger/power girl Simi providing searing vocals. Bettye LaVette, also known as "The Great Lady of Soul," began her career back in 1962, and has enjoyed tremendous success in the R&B recording field, on the Broadway stage and more. Sarah McCleave and Darren Bancroft make up this singer/songwriter band with dreamy folk psychedellic songs.
