Gouache is the French term of opaque watercolor. Perfected by artists of the 18th century, pigments permanently adhere to a surface while being sustained in water.

Supplies: gouache or watercolor paint starter or primer set of 6-8 tubes, paper towels, sketch pad, kneaded eraser, pencils (no harder than HB), wide mouth plastic jug, palette (11" x 15" white, metal or plastic), pad of watercolor paper (140 lb. rough surface no smaller than 10" x 14"), x-acto knife or single-edge razor blade, brushes (synthetic sable and soft watercolor bristle), 1" and 1/2" flat, #1 and #6-#9 round pointed brushes
