Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment invite New Yorkers and visitors to say goodbye, once and for all, to those bad memories of 2010 at the fourth annual 'Good Riddance Day.' It could be a picture of an old flame, a bad report card, a pile of old credit card statements, your sports team's record for this year, a picture of your old boss, or saying goodbye to the home that took forever to sell. This is your chance to start fresh in 2011! A giant Cintas shredder, along with a dumpster and sledgehammer will be stationed on the Broadway Plaza between 46th and 47th streets. The public can also write their bad memories on stationery available on-site and those who can't make it to Times Square can submit memories online at www.timessquarenyc.org to be shredded. Cast members from Green Day's Broadway musical, 'American Idiot,' will be on hand to not only bid farewell to their own unpleasant memories from 2010 but also award the 'Time of Their Life' to the most creative entry with an 'American Idiot' VIP experience. 'Good Riddance Day' is a symbolic event intended for shredding, dumping or destroying single memories or ideas. It is not a mass shredding or disposal event, and they are unable to accommodate requests to shred large amounts of paper material.
