Join Steve Hawkins, member of San Antonio Audubon Bird Records Committee and Friends of Government Canyon Education Committee, on a hike to the backcountry of the natural area to see this species whose world-wide nesting grounds are found only in Texas. We will use the Joe Johnston Route as the core of the hike and may explore the Twin Oaks and/or Wildcat Canyon trails for golden-cheeks depending on the interests and abilities of the group. Wear sturdy shoes, hat, sunscreen, and bring at least one liter of water per person; Group size limited and any participant under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Meet at the rainwater collection towers. No pets please. Reservations required and will be accepted beginning at noon March 1, 2010 and ending at noon April 2, 2010.
