Lavish, monumental, exuberant, theatrical - these are words that often describe the baroque, a style that dominated 17th century Europe. Dutch Baroque, however, is also more natural and exhibits a wide variety of subject matter, including portraiture, mythological scenes, religious works and landscapes.
